🎵 1990s Hip Hop Wedding Songs
1990s Hip Hop is fire right now. Discover a few that may not be on your wedding playlist.
I am bringing back the ‘90s beats in this week’s issue of the Wedding MuscLetter!
1990s Hip Hop is an era and genre trending right now for wedding couples. So, I created a list of 90s Hip Hop party jams. Many are dance floor fillers while others are “hidden gems”.
One condition to this list. Every song must have been released in the 1990s. Nothing from the 1980s and 2000s!
As with any genre song list, I did my best to give you a cross reference of many different sub-genres. Not every sub-genre will work for every crowd. It is up to you to know the audience and what works for who’s in front of you.
If you are interested, I did create a list of 1990s R&B love songs.
Is there a ‘90s music genre you would like for me to cover? (pop-punk, ska, country, electronic, grunge, pop, new jack swing) Lemme know!

Award Tour - A Tribe Called Quest feat. Trugoy The Dove
1993 - I know this will be controversial because their biggest hit is “Can I Kick It?”. Don’t fret. It’s on the list too. "Award Tour" became A Tribe Called Quest's highest charting single on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #47. It is one of their most energetic songs.
Baby Got Back - Sir-Mix-A-Lot
1992 - One of the greatest spoken intros of all time that will have everyone shouting the words. Then, the beat drops to an epic dance tune. The theme of the song may not be for every event but can be played towards the end of the night.
Back That Thang Up - Juvenile
1998 - The song is considered a landmark track that helped popularize bounce music, a subgenre of hip-hop characterized by slow tempos, heavy basslines, and call-and-response chants. "Back That Thang Up" brought bounce music from the underground scene in New Orleans to a mainstream audience. It peaked at #19 on the Billboard Hot 100. A definite party hit!
