Some of the fastest-growing genres in the last two years are metal and punk, alongside high-BPM (beats per minute) genres like house and techno. Meanwhile, the genre falling most in popularity is acoustic/singer-songwriter (GWI).
The Weeknd is the first artist to surpass 100 million monthly listeners in Spotify history (chart data).
