The Knot recently asked a question on their Facebook page - What wedding tradition are you skipping? Responses grew to over 850.
Many of the participating comments said they were skipping ceremony vows with the word “obey”.
As for the reception, most mentioned skipping the garter toss and the bouquet toss. Some mentioned no cake cutting.
Another hot topic was to not abide by the “not seeing each other on the day of the wedding” tradition. Why? Because anyone in a relationship knows how hard it is to sleep when your partner is not there next to you.
Some couples decided not to have the traditional ring bearer and flower girl. Instead, they chose a friend with a themed walk.
Some couples also mentioned seeing the reception hall empty before guests arrive.
I say all of this because every wedding is unique. Just realize that the choices made will affect the wedding playlist and timeline. Make adjustments accordingly.
