Look at the titles on this month’s new release list. “Let’s Get Married.” “One More Dance.” “Take Me Home.” A father-daughter song written for that exact moment. A parent dance cover that runs just 1:22.
Songwriters are now writing for a wedding timeline. It sounds like a gift. It is also a trap.
A song called “One More Dance” has to hold a packed floor to close out a reception. Plenty of on-theme songs fall apart the second the room stops listening to the words.
So, this month listen to the song’s function. Does the song move you (and potentially guests), or does it only say the right thing?
My favorite surprise: Ashe released a love song called “Funeral.” It might be the most romantic track on the list.
